DTF Ink Purchase Recommendations
Choosing the right DTF inks for cost-effective print quality.
- Printer Compatibility: Ensure the ink is suitable or compatible with your particular DTF printer printhead model to keep the ink flowing smoothly and prevent clogging; incompatibility can cause hardware damage.
- Application Requirements: Different inks produce varying levels of color vibrancy and texture. Match your ink selection to the type of garments, accessories, or other products you plan to print on. There are nine colors in total.
- Performance on Consumables: Consider how each ink type behaves when paired with different films and powders. Factors like drying time, cooling periods, and anti-cracking properties can significantly impact your workflow and final output quality.
- Environmental and Cost Factors: Opt for inks with eco-friendly formulas and lower storage demands to enhance production efficiency. Choosing inks with balanced cost-performance ratios can help maintain profitability without sacrificing quality.
- Supplier Credibility & Support: Choose vendors known for consistent quality, responsive service, and reliable after-sales assistance. Strong support can reduce downtime and improve your production efficiency.
- Test Before Committing: Start with small ink batches to gauge print accuracy, workflow impact, and ease of handling. Early testing helps you avoid large-scale errors and ensures your chosen ink meets your real-world needs.
- Supply Chain & Scalability: As your business expands, your ink supply needs to keep pace. Ensure that your provider can maintain consistent inventory levels and timely deliveries so you’re never short on materials.
- Long-Term Value: Don't just look at upfront costs. Consider the total cost of ownership - factors such as equipment maintenance, downtime and frequency of ink changes. Make a balanced decision today so you can act better tomorrow.
Process of Switching to DTF Printing Inks
Different inks can be replaced in different ways, but generally the following can be done.
Check the basic status of the printer, such as nozzle checking, before replacing the ink.
Ensure that the printer is equipped with protection for the ink area to prevent ink overflow that could damage the machine.
Clean the existing ink, clean the ink bottle (especially the secondary ink cartridge), and replace the ink pouch.
Thoroughly clean the print head.
All operations are carried out with the power turned off.
Storage Precautions for DTF Transfer Ink
Purchased ink may not be used immediately, so you need to learn to store it.
It is recommended to store DTF Ink in an environment between 15°C and 25°C, avoiding extreme temperatures, as excessively high or low temperatures may affect the ink’s performance.
When storing ink, avoid frequent movement, shaking, or jostling to prevent the pigment particles from settling or clumping. It is recommended to keep the ink upright to minimize motion.
Prolonged exposure to sunlight or bright light may cause the pigments or dyes in the ink to degrade, affecting color vibrancy and stability. It is recommended to store the ink in a dark place.
Ink containers need to be well sealed to prevent the entry of oxygen, which may cause oxidation of the pigment or evaporation of the solvent. After use, Lid should be closed quickly to keep the container clean.
All ink containers should have clear labels for easy management and identification. Follow the first-in, first-out principle by prioritizing the use of older ink, ensuring that it is used up within its shelf life to minimize waste.
Regularly check for any color discrepancies or sedimentation in the ink, and perform a print test if necessary. At the same time, please note to use it preferably within the shelf life (12 months). Do not use expired ink.
